For A Coffin Full of Gold

DECEMBER 2021

When I was hired to create the poster and other advertising “For A Coffin Full of Gold,” I needed to create it as a homage to the old westerns, while also bringing it forward into the modern era. Old film posters, especially westerns, have bright warm colors so I went with a gold color palate to coincide with the title. The graveyard was to be an important feature of the film so I took that image and placed a silhouette of Franklin Reuben over it. The silhouette was used to not only create a sharp contrast to the golden sky, but to also add a level of mystery to the character. Then a cutout of the Yankee looms above him as he is the antagonist to the two brothers. Finally, a slight painted effect was added to make the poster look as if it were painted by an artist as it would have been decades in the past.
